I picked up a new mini computer to be the home to TheShanty.us!
I got one of these, refurbed, off of Ebay.
It even came with an install of Win 10 Pro. All for less than $50.
I removed the Win 10 drive and set it aside. I put in an blank 500GB drive I had and install the newest LTS Ubuntu, 24.04.1.
Moving the blog actually wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. I was already backing up the database and the web directory tree daily. So I ended up setting up LAMP copying them over. Getting the right username and setting up the right database name took a couple of tries, but I was done in about an hour.
Then I had to move over the weather scripts and DONE! Now you are seeing the blog on it’s new home.
